Leave a Legacy of Inclusion

A red heart made from paper held by cupping hands

At Inclusive Innovations Tasmania (IIT), our mission is to make inclusion mainstream by developing innovative approaches that empower individuals living with disability, disadvantage, or disruption. Through initiatives like Blind Sports Tasmania, the GameChanger Sports Equipment Scheme, and other inclusive community programs, we’ve helped transform lives by improving access, encouraging participation, and building a more inclusive society.

Why Consider a Bequest?

A bequest is more than a one-off donation — it’s a meaningful and lasting investment in a future where everyone belongs. By including IIT in your Will, you help ensure our programs continue to thrive and expand, bridging the gap between community needs and real solutions.

Whether you choose to leave a direct gift or set up a longer-term giving structure, your legacy can create far-reaching social impact and inspire a new generation to engage in causes that matter. A bequest can also provide comfort to your loved ones, giving them a way to stay connected with your values and contribution.

The 5% Difference

We invite you to consider allocating just 5% of your total estate to IIT. This allows you to provide for your loved ones while also investing in a legacy of inclusion, empowerment, and systemic change. Even a modest percentage can lead to significant advancements in our ability to deliver life-changing programs across Tasmania.

We Have DGR Status

IIT is a registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), which means that any donations over $2 are tax-deductible to your estate. So not only will you be helping a great cause — your estate may also receive a tax benefit.

How Are the Funds Managed and Put to Work?

Firstly, IIT is a 100% volunteer-run organisation, where no one is paid for the passionate work our team does professionally and willingly. A small percentage is required for essential administrative costs — including accounting, legal, and insurance — that keep us operational, compliant, and sustainable. Keeping our running costs to an absolute minimum allows us to maximise our positive impact through all programs.

For example:

  • $5,000 funds our blind cricket team to attend national championships each year, including uniforms and equipment.
  • $10,000 supports the expansion of our Inclusive Work Award, aligning talented students with disability or neurodiversity to employment opportunities — including equipment, training, and accessible transport.
  • $20,000+ can fund new initiatives, potentially aligned to the values and intentions of the donating family, allowing for meaningful collaboration with IIT.

Secondly, all bequest funds are securely managed within IIT’s Investment Trust Fund, under a deed that ensures the funds return to IIT over many future years. It truly is a gift that keeps on giving.

Involving Your Family

Many people choose to involve their children or other loved ones in their philanthropic plans. Whether by encouraging participation in a giving structure or simply sharing your intentions, this can be a powerful way to pass on values and inspire future generations.

How to Include IIT in Your Will

Including IIT in your Will is straightforward. Here’s a suggested clause to share with your legal adviser:

“I bequeath 5% of my total estate to Inclusive Innovations Tasmania Branch Ltd (IIT), ABN: 33640866708, a registered charity in Tasmania, to be used for its general purposes. A receipt from an authorised officer of IIT shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.”
